I found a "Douglass Rowsell" in the civil death registrations who died in Chard,Sommerset,Eng land at age 89. The refference # is 5c page 289. Douglas' son, samuel, was listed as living i n Chard in the 1881 census. This is strong evidence to me that this is the right Douglas Rows ell. That means that he would have been born around 1791. I have been unable to find anyone b ut a George Rowsell, that was born around 1801 and I don't think that George and Douglas ar e the same individual in this case. I would be inclinded to believe that they were brothers o r cousins. I now need to find Douglas' birth record in or around 1791. I hope this solves th e mystery of who Douglas really is. The only true record I have of this individual is that h e appeared in the Crewkerne 1851 census and his wedding certificate which didn't his parents ' names.
On John Rowsell's wedding certificate Douglas is listed as being a gardener.
